The US Department of Justice (DOJ) unleashed the court’s documents on Friday related to the FBI raid on Donald Trump’s residence, which established that the FBI recovered 11 sets of highly classified documents during its raid.

Reportedly some of the recovered material contains the “top secret/SCI” label, which is used for highly sensitive documents.

These revelations pushed Donald Trump into the DOJ investigations, as he is likely to face three charges against him, including criminal handling of government official records, violating the Espionage Act and obstruction of Justice.

According to the court’s documents, FBI agents recovered four sets of “top secret” material, three sets of “secret” material, and three sets of “confidential” material.

The newly released court documents also revealed that the federal judge who issued the search warrants against Trump only allowed the FBI agents to search for the specific area at Mar-a-Lago, named the “45 Office,” apparently referring to Donald Trump being the 45th President of the United States.

Trump’s mansion, which is located on a 17-acre private property, includes 58 bedrooms, as per the court filing, but the judge asked the FBI not to disturb the other members at the residence during the raid.

Partisan Tensions Skyrocketing in the US

The raid drew the ire of Republican lawmakers, who slammed the DOJ for its double standards. Donald Trump stated that even Barack Obama took “33 million pages of documents, much of them classified” with him.

However, the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) defied Trump’s statements, noting that those 33 million pages of documents are still maintained in NARA’s Chicago office. NARA is responsible for maintaining the records of the former presidents.

The FBI raid has already intensified the political tensions in the already tense political environment of the United States. Republican lawmakers have vowed to start an investigation against the DOJ and different law enforcement agencies if they win the midterm elections in November this year.

According to them, the FBI is unable to investigate Biden’s son Hunter Biden who remained involved in financial misdealings across the world during Obama’s tenure when his father was serving as the Vice President of the United States. Republicans believe that Joe Biden consistently helped his son in his business dealings by abusing his powers, and still, the FBI is not prosecuting Bidens.

Although Trump encouraged the courts to release the documents, he also slammed the FBI for raiding his residence. He suggested that he had better relations with the federal investigation agencies compared to most of the former presidents, but still, he was raided without any prior warning.

If convicted of hiding the classified documents unlawfully, Donald Trump can face lifetime disqualification from holding any public office again.
